Global recovery takes root

In Q1, doubts abounded about whether the economic recovery that was increasingly becoming evident was sustainable. We now know that it was and as we look ahead to Q2, the signs are that growth is spreading and taking deeper root. This global growth revival is being led by the emerging market economies, notably the Asian economies clustered around China. But the dynamics of growth in the emerging markets – the demand for inputs from the larger economies driving exports and growth in the smaller emerging countries – is now self-perpetuating. In other words, there is a virtuous pattern of growth now underway.
